1968Founded by Karl-Heinz Koenen and his wife Isabella with the vision of manufacturing precision screens for commercial customers, KOENEN started designing different screen printing frames in 1969.
1970While Karl-Heinz Koenen looked after customer services, process planning, sales and dispatch, Isabella Koenen was responsible for the office work, bookkeeping, delivery and customer care. Already even then, a familiar relationship developed particularly with employees and specifically with customers.
1974-1987A few years later, the production was expanded through the construction of the current Plant 1 in Maiglöckchenweg. Following the customers' requirements the first air-conditioned clean room was established here.
1993A quarter of a century later KOENEN celebrated their 25-year anniversary together with their employees and customers.
1994-1999KOENEN expanded and developed a second tier with "laser-cut precision stencils". By opening Plant 2 the company specialized in the production and sales of these and then applied for a patent for welding in metal stencils in the same year. Shortly after that further investments in state-of-the-art laser and measuring systems followed.
2000-2001Certification according to DIN EN ISO 9001 followed. Further developments such as trampoline mounting were soon to be introduced on the market. For the first time KOENEN became the market leader for precision stencils in Germany. With the acquisition of a high-performance photo plotter a 4-zone clean room was established in 2002.
2002The co-founder and managing partner Karl-Heinz Koenen died in August 2002.
2003Not only the 35th anniversary of the company, but also the introduction of new technologies in the area of fine line printing through cooperation with TOPRO resulted in promising years for the company allowing them to enter new market segments.
2005KOENEN employs more than 50 staff and stand out due to their competency, complete produc range, integrated concept, fast delivery service and a fair partnership, which ensures the success of the company. Based on specific requirements the new KOENEN Solar product line has been established in October 2005.

2006KOENEN GmbH and Christian Koenen GmbH make a common agreement.
Both companies, managed by their owner, strengthen their particular scope of business and extract their energy from their common roots. Since August 1st , 2006 KOENEN GmbH has focused on the production of “precision screens” and Christian Koenen GmbH on the production of “ precision stencils”. The focusing on the particular core competences is a logic and consequential step, corporately forward-looking and, last but not least, expedient with regard to the family. All participants profit from this common agreement by know-how transfer, investment surge and the experience of experts from two companies.
2007
The KOENEN GROUP is pleased about new generation. On 1 October 2007 the KOENEN GmbH transfers the division KOENEN Solar into its own corporation. The KOENEN Solar GmbH emphasizes the importance of the market for the future.
200840 years KOEN(N)EN is the motto for the 40 years jubilee. KOENEN is proud of the familial and traditional roots and the quality mark "Made in Germany". KOENEN is attaching importance to highest precision of products and processes as well as to the extra portion cordiality with each other. The KOENEN GROUP stands for reliability and security - yesterday, today and tomorrow.
